English (US)

Americans – in particular those that think of themselves as well spoken – look away now!

English. The name is a dead give-away as to the homeland of the language. It comes from England. The United Kingdom – The UK. So why is it that 90% of software packages/programs only contain the option for “English (US)”? Why do you have the option for this bastardised, abused version of English, but not the original form? It makes no sense to me, and it’s insanely annoying (probably a sign of me developing OCD, or some other psychological disorder) when I read things like “color”, “behavior”, “center”, and of course “analyze”!

Argh, it’s winding me up just looking at those abominations sat there the screen!

If you have to speak such a simplified, mauled version of the language, then do it at home – don’t advertise the fact that you can’t handle the letter “u” alongside an “o”! If you had a speech impediment, such as not being able to pronounce your R’s (ala Jonathon Ross), then you wouldn’t advertise that fact would you?! You wouldn’t include a dictionary in Microsoft Office where all the W’s were replaced with R’s! You can’t write the words, yet you claim it as your first language. Bit silly really isn’t it?

Anyway, all you Yanks can start reading again now. I’ve had my little rant for the day!
